Naval Science I

Naval Science I includes: leadership, citizenship, foundations of our government, navy ships, naval aviation, orienteering, basic
military drill, marksmanship, physical fitness training, and a weekly uniform inspection. It is possible for students to enter any
NJROTC class mid-semester. However, students must request permission from the ROTC instructor so that they fully understand
what will be expected from them. This class will count as 1 PE credit Lab Fee $25

Naval Science II

Prerequisite: Can be taken without taking Naval Science I with permission from instructor.

Naval Science II includes: Maritime History-sea power and early western civilization, the American Revolution, the Civil War, World
Wars I and II, the Cold War era, current issues, Nautical Sciences-maritime geography, oceanography, meteorology, astronomy,
physical science, orienteering, military drill (arms and swords), marksmanship, physical fitness training, and a weekly uniform
inspection. It is possible for students to enter any NJROTC class mid-semester. However, students must request permission from the
ROTC instructor so that they fully understand what will be expected from them. This class will count as 1 PE credit

Naval Science III
Full Year

Prerequisite: Can be taken without taking Naval Science I with permission from instructor.

Naval Science III includes: Naval Knowledge-sea power and national security, naval operations, military law, international law, Naval
Skills-ship construction, shipboard organization, basic seamanship, marine navigation, rules of the road, and naval weapons. Additional
subject areas will be: orienteering, advanced military drill, marksmanship, physical fitness training, and weekly uniform inspection. It
is possible for students to enter any NJROTC class mid-semester. However, students must request permission from the ROTC instructor
so that they fully understand what will be expected from them. This class will fulfill ½ Health credit. This class will count as a
humanities credit. This course will fulfill the humanities graduation requirement.

Naval Science IV

1 Honors Credits (with instructor approval)
Prerequisite: Can be taken without taking Naval Science I with permission from instructor

Naval Science IV includes: fundamentals of leadership, responsibilities and qualities of leadership, achieving effective
communications and case studies, basic financial planning, tolerance curriculum, cadet staff organization, advanced military drill,
marksmanship, physical fitness training, and a weekly uniform inspection. It is possible for students to enter any NJROTC class midsemester.
However, students must request permission from the ROTC instructor so that they fully understand what will be expected
from them.
